Bargain shopping for dental care is a bad idea
Inflation is high. Recent news show that it’s hit a 40 year high at 9.1%...This isn’t news we like to hear because things are about to get a whole lot expensive. Think about toothpaste reaching $10 a tube???
Of course, we should be uplifting and overwhelmingly positive. Things will be all right, it will all work out in the end…..Right?? But will it???
When the price of our everyday items goes up, some of us find it necessary to bargain shop especially for our dental needs. It makes sense, I need to find ways to save money. But it never should be this way, It’s your body, it’s your health. Would bargaining your health work out in the end?
As a dental practitioner, patients that usually bargain for their treatment generally never have their dental issues work out. If one problem gets fixed, another pops up. They end up having to pay more than they really should.
How is this so? It’s because the underlying problem has never been taken care of. Patients have become treatment dependent where we look at teeth being removed and implants placed without thinking about our gum health, our foundation to dental health. Think about how long your dentist or dental hygienist take in talking about your gum health?
Just like in medicine, dental problems take time to be cured. It’s never this “one stop shop” “teeth in a day” that works out. Our 4 step hygiene method which takes time to explain is important to our dental health. Without our knowledge of this, we may be stuck with having our dental needs being paid for at high costs. Bargaining definitely won’t solve this.
