Shannon Sharpe’s brushing habit

Recently, an interview was done between former National Football professional stars Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson. A discussion came about on how often one brushes his teeth. Shannon shared his unique way of cleaning: brushing seven times a day, going through one tube of toothpaste a week, and changing his brush every two weeks. As crazy and laughable as this sounds, the question that comes up is does this really work???? After all, Shannon brushes 7x a day. His teeth on TV really does look clean. Maybe?

Does brushing often like former NFL player Shannon Sharpe help????

Does it really work? Should I immediately think of brushing often? The answer, unfortunately, is no. Studies have compared brushing for 2 minutes versus 5 minutes and have shown no differences in plaque removal. We also know that brushes don’t go inside areas as well as we thought it would. This includes going in between teeth and inside the gums. Would changing my brush often make things better? Nope. All of this makes me wonder if Shannon Sharpe’s teeth and gum health is really healthy. I have my doubts, but I’d love to see if it really does work by doing a full comprehensive exam.

We really need an efficient way of cleaning our teeth. One that requires just once daily 10-15 minutes of cleaning. 7x brushing in a day is too much for anyone especially when I get complaints that even once daily 10-15 minutes is difficult. Spending time cleaning once daily can’t be as bad as 7x brushing. Also, if you are brushing that much, why not spend the time going through every single one of your teeth and clean around it and between it once daily. It’s so much time efficient and you don’t have to remember how many times you’ve brushed…..Not sure why anyone would want to spend all that time inefficiently brushing.
