COVID 19 Workplace protection
February 1, 2021
This article shows how mask wearing and especially good air flow and frequent rapid tests (rapid tests have currently not been as easily accessible) are more important than surface cleaning, temperature checks and plexiglass. This is important for all of us that have indoor offices to be mindful of.
Ever since, I’ve reopened my office (after temporarily closing), in May of last year and January of this year, I have been infatuated with good air flow. With mask wearing being mandatory, we can have HVACs and HEPA filters (currently in our office). But some past studies have shown the possibility of COVID inside the HVACs. Imagine that stuff blowing out the machines, that’s really scary!
What I have found work the best is for all windows and doors to be opened with no heater or air conditioning on. This, I realized, required a lot of sacrifice and getting out of my comfort zone especially on really hot and cold days. Also, I had to be mindful of my dental assistant, too. I was able to find this to be effective by using a CO2 monitor that told me how close my office was to outside air. Check out my Facebook post for more info on which CO2 monitor I would recommend.
Ever since the pandemic started, I won’t even set foot in a building that refuses to open doors and windows especially when multiple people are present. In my next blog, I’ll explain why.
